//The Homologation Process

Whether you are a vehicle manufacturer or an engineering service provider, navigating homologation requirements can quickly become complex.

We support you in obtaining the necessary approvals for a wide range of vehicle types – from passenger cars and commercial vehicles (M, N, O, L, T) to light electric vehicles, special-purpose vehicles, hypercars, construction and agricultural machinery, motorhomes, and autonomous shuttles.

Our services cover the full spectrum of homologation. We guide you through European type approval processes in close coordination with authorities and technical services, based on key regulatory frameworks such as Regulation (EU) 858/2018, 168/2013, and 167/2013, as well as national requirements (StVZO, FZV) and international ECE regulations.

In addition, we take care of essential operational aspects: from creating eCoC and IVI datasets and ensuring smooth communication with the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), to supporting COP-Q and COP-P audits, managing verification and quality processes, and handling component and system approvals.In short, we make sure your vehicles meet all regulatory requirements – efficiently, transparently, and with a clear path to approval.

//CONCEPT PHASE

Establishing the regulatory and strategic foundation.

By identifying and implementing current and future homologation requirements.

It addresses key strategic questions regarding the scope of homologation and supports development teams in the application and interpretation of relevant regulations.

In parallel, it contributes to setting up a quality management system and prepares the initial assessment, ensuring a compliant baseline for the subsequent phases of certification and approval.

02

//Development PHASE

The Execution and validation of homologation requirements.

It includes developing regulatory training and documentation, researching legal requirements, and ensuring alignment between development goals and homologation standards.

The phase coordinates component approval processes, manages type approval testing, and oversees test execution and evaluation.It also covers the preparation and verification of certification vehicles, regular status reporting, and regulatory support for development projects.

In addition, it contributes to compliance assessments and supports COP-Q audits to ensure ongoing conformity.

03

//Homologation PHASE

The management and execution of vehicle homologation.

It includes steering homologation activities across vehicle projects, maintaining required documentation, and supporting the preparation of legally mandated records.

The phase covers the planning and coordination of type approval tests (virtual, static, and dynamic) in line with national and international regulations.It also ensures vehicle readiness and quality checks, coordinates test vehicles across locations, and manages alignment with technical services, authorities, and external stakeholders.

Additionally, this phase is responsible for obtaining European whole vehicle type approvals as well as system approvals, and for organizing individual approvals and exemptions for pre-series vehicles.

04

//Production Phase

Ensuring compliance during series production.

It includes acting as an external homologation representative, assessing changes for their homologation relevance, and preparing approval documents such as CoC certificates and type plates.

The phase ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and type approvals, initiates corrective actions in case of deviations, and supports RAPEX notifications as well as COP-P audits.

05

//Market Surveillance

Market surveillance and continuous compliance.

It includes monitoring regulatory deadlines, tracking legislative changes and standards, and ensuring their implementation across vehicle approval processes. The phase involves active participation in regulatory committees and the interpretation of laws and consumer protection programs.

It also covers market monitoring of product usage, the application of modern homologation tools, and the continuous optimization of homologation processes. Additionally, it ensures that regulatory updates are identified early and translated into necessary actions.
